Uses and Benefits of ABOVE 5 TABLET (PANTOPRAZOLE)

Pantoprazole is mainly used to treat conditions caused by excess stomach acid.

WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR

• Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) and heartburn
• Stomach and duodenal ulcers
• Erosive esophagitis (inflammation of the food pipe due to acid)
• Zollinger-Ellison syndrome and other conditions with excess acid production
• Along with antibiotics to treat H. pylori infection
• Prevention of ulcers in people who need long-term pain-relief medicines

HOW IT WORKS

• It blocks the proton pump in stomach cells that produces acid
• This lowers the amount of acid in the stomach
• Reduced acid allows irritated tissue in the food pipe or stomach to heal
• It also relieves symptoms like burning sensation and acid regurgitation

WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR

• It is not a painkiller and does not treat general body pain
• It does not treat bacterial infections on its own
• It is not meant for immediate relief of sudden severe stomach pain without medical advice
• It is not a substitute for lifestyle changes like diet control in acid reflux

• Signs of low magnesium such as muscle spasms, irregular heartbeat, or seizures
• Yellowing of skin or eyes, or dark urine (signs of liver problems)
• Severe skin reaction with blistering or peeling

How to Use ABOVE 5 TABLET (PANTOPRAZOLE)

HOW TO TAKE IT

• Take it exactly as prescribed by your doctor
• Usually taken once daily, before breakfast, on an empty stomach
• Swallow the tablet whole with water; do not crush or chew it
• Do not stop the medicine suddenly without consulting your doctor, even if you feel better
• Continue for the full duration prescribed, even if symptoms improve early

IF YOU MISS A DOSE

• Take the missed dose as soon as you remember
• If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed one and continue as usual
• Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one

STORAGE

• Store at room temperature, away from direct sunlight and moisture
• Keep in the original packaging until it is time to take it
• Keep out of reach and sight of children
• Do not use after the expiry date printed on the pack

DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICINE IF YOU

• Are allergic to pantoprazole or any other proton pump inhibitor
• Are taking certain HIV medicines where acid reduction can affect their absorption, without doctor's advice

TELL YOUR DOCTOR BEFORE STARTING IF YOU

• Have liver disease
• Have osteoporosis or a history of bone fractures
• Have low magnesium or vitamin B12 levels
• Are pregnant, planning pregnancy, or breastfeeding
