Uses and Benefits of ACROTAC 10MG CAPSULE (ACITRETIN 10MG)

Acitretin 10mg is mainly prescribed for severe forms of psoriasis, including plaque psoriasis, pustular psoriasis, and other related skin disorders of thickened or scaly skin.

WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR

• Severe psoriasis not controlled by other treatments
• Pustular psoriasis
• Some other disorders of skin keratinisation (skin thickening/scaling) as advised by a dermatologist

HOW IT WORKS

• It is a retinoid that normalises the way skin cells grow and mature
• It reduces excessive scaling, redness and thickening of skin
• It helps slow down the rapid turnover of skin cells seen in psoriasis

WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR

• It is not used for mild psoriasis that responds to creams or ointments
• It is not a painkiller and does not treat itching directly
• It is not used for fungal or bacterial skin infections
• It is not to be used during pregnancy or for cosmetic acne treatment

COMMON SIDE EFFECTS

• Nail changes or brittleness
• Joint or muscle pain

• Increased sensitivity to sunlight

SERIOUS SIDE EFFECTS — STOP AND SEE A DOCTOR IMMEDIATELY

• Yellowing of skin or eyes, dark urine (signs of liver problems)
• Severe headache, vision changes or eye pain
• Severe mood changes, depression or thoughts of self-harm
• Signs of high cholesterol/triglycerides such as chest pain
• Swelling of face, lips, throat or difficulty breathing (allergic reaction)
• Bone or joint pain that is severe or persistent

How to Use ACROTAC 10MG CAPSULE (ACITRETIN 10MG)

HOW TO TAKE IT

• Take exactly as prescribed by your doctor, usually once daily
• Take with food or milk to help absorption
• Swallow the tablet whole with water; do not crush or chew unless advised
• Do not stop or change the dose without consulting your doctor, even if symptoms improve
• Regular blood tests may be needed to monitor liver function and blood fat levels during treatment

IF YOU MISS A DOSE

• Take it as soon as you remember on the same day
• If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed one
• Do not take two doses together to make up for a missed dose
• If you miss doses often, inform your doctor

STORAGE

• Store at room temperature, away from direct sunlight and moisture

DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICINE IF YOU
