Uses and Benefits of ACROTAC 25MG CAPSULE (ACITRETIN 25MG)
ACROTAC 25MG Capsule contains Acitretin, a retinoid related to Vitamin A. It regulates skin-cell growth and helps reduce excessive skin thickening, scaling and inflammation. It is used to treat certain severe forms of psoriasis, including severe plaque, pustular and erythrodermic psoriasis. It helps reduce thickened and scaly skin patches and control excessive skin-cell growth when other treatments may not be suitable or effective. This medicine is prescribed by a dermatologist and is not a routine treatment for acne or ordinary skin dryness.
Side Effects of ACROTAC 25MG CAPSULE (ACITRETIN 25MG)
Possible side effects of ACROTAC 25MG Capsule include dry, cracked lips, dry skin and peeling, dry eyes or dry nose, hair loss, itching and skin irritation, joint or muscle pain, nail brittleness, and increased blood lipid levels. Contact your doctor if symptoms persist or become severe. Regular blood tests may be necessary to monitor liver function and blood lipid levels.
How to Use ACROTAC 25MG CAPSULE (ACITRETIN 25MG)
Take ACROTAC 25MG Capsule exactly as prescribed by your dermatologist. It is generally taken with food or as directed on the prescription. Swallow the capsule with water. The dose and duration depend on the severity of psoriasis and your response to treatment. Do not change the dose or stop treatment without consulting your doctor.
Safety Information and Precautions for ACROTAC 25MG CAPSULE (ACITRETIN 25MG)
ACROTAC 25MG Capsule must be used under a dermatologist's supervision. Acitretin can cause severe birth defects and must not be used during pregnancy. Anyone who could become pregnant must follow the prescribed pregnancy-prevention programme and avoid pregnancy during treatment and for at least 3 years after stopping. Do not use while breastfeeding. Avoid alcohol during treatment and for at least 2 months after stopping. Inform your doctor if you have liver disease, kidney disease or high blood lipid levels. Avoid Vitamin A supplements and other retinoid medicines unless specifically approved by your doctor. Do not combine with tetracycline antibiotics such as doxycycline without specialist advice. Acitretin can increase sensitivity to sunlight; use suitable sun protection. Regular liver-function and blood-lipid tests may be required. Store below 30°C, away from direct sunlight and moisture, and keep out of reach of children.
