Dabigatran Etexilate 150mg is used to prevent and manage blood clots in various conditions.
WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR
- To reduce the risk of stroke and blood clots in people with a heart rhythm problem called atrial fibrillation
- To treat deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and pulmonary embolism (PE)
- To prevent DVT and PE from happening again after initial treatment
- To prevent blood clots after certain major orthopaedic surgeries (as advised by your doctor)
HOW IT WORKS
- It blocks a clotting protein called thrombin
- This action stops blood from clotting too easily
- It helps keep blood flowing smoothly through veins and arteries
WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR
- It is not a painkiller and does not treat pain or swelling directly
- It is not used for minor cuts or routine bleeding control
- It does not treat infections or clear existing large clots immediately like emergency clot-busting drugs
- It should not be used casually without a doctor's prescription and monitoring

How to Use AFOGATRAN 150MG CAPSULE (Dabigatran Etexilate 150mg)
HOW TO TAKE IT
- Take exactly as prescribed by your doctor, usually twice a day
- Swallow the capsule whole with a full glass of water
- Do not open, break, or chew the capsule as this can change how the medicine works
- Take it at the same times each day to keep a steady level in your blood
- Can be taken with or without food, unless your doctor advises otherwise
IF YOU MISS A DOSE
- Take the missed dose as soon as you remember, but not if it is nearly time for your next dose
