Pancreatin is used to treat symptoms of pancreatic enzyme deficiency, where the pancreas is unable to produce enough enzymes to digest food properly.
WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR
- Chronic pancreatitis with poor digestion
- Cystic fibrosis related digestive problems
- After surgical removal of part of the pancreas
- Conditions causing poor absorption of fats, proteins and carbohydrates
- General digestive enzyme replacement as advised by doctor
HOW IT WORKS
- Supplies enzymes (amylase, protease, lipase) similar to those made by a healthy pancreas
- Helps break down starches, proteins and fats in food
- Improves absorption of nutrients from the gut

HOW TO TAKE IT
- Take with meals or snacks, as this helps the enzymes mix with food
- Swallow capsules or tablets whole with a full glass of water; do not crush or chew unless your doctor says it is safe
- Do not hold the medicine in your mouth as it can irritate the lining
- Take exactly as prescribed by your doctor in terms of frequency and amount
- Do not stop suddenly without consulting your doctor if you are on long-term treatment
IF YOU MISS A DOSE
- Take it with your next meal or snack if you remember in time
- If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed one

DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICINE IF YOU
