How to Use AZELAST EYE DROP (Azelastine)

AZELAST EYE DROP – HOW TO USE

Azelast Eye Drop is an ophthalmic medicine intended for use in the eyes only. Follow the dosage and frequency recommended by your doctor or eye-care professional.

STEP-BY-STEP DIRECTIONS

• Step 1 – Wash Your Hands
• Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water before handling the eye-drop bottle.
• Step 2 – Check the Bottle
• Confirm the medicine name and expiry date. Do not use the solution if it is visibly contaminated, discoloured or contains particles.
• Step 3 – Remove Contact Lenses
• Remove soft contact lenses before using the drops.
• Step 4 – Tilt Your Head Back
• Look upward and gently pull down the lower eyelid to create a small pocket.
• Step 5 – Apply the Prescribed Dose
• Hold the bottle above the eye and instil the prescribed number of drops into the lower eyelid pocket.
• Step 6 – Avoid Contamination
• Do not allow the dropper tip to touch the eye, eyelid, eyelashes, fingers or any surface.
• Step 7 – Close Your Eyes
• Close your eyes gently for approximately one to two minutes. Avoid squeezing or rubbing them.
• Step 8 – Reduce Drainage
• Gently press the inner corner of the eye near the nose for about one minute to help reduce drainage into the nose and throat.
• Step 9 – Replace the Cap
• Close the bottle immediately after use.
• Step 10 – Wash Your Hands Again
• Wash your hands if any medicine has spilled onto them.

USUAL DOSAGE INFORMATION

• Azelastine 0.05% ophthalmic solution is commonly used as one drop in the affected eye or eyes twice daily for allergic conjunctivitis.
• However, the correct dosage and duration depend on the patient's age, diagnosis and medical instructions.
• Do not increase the number of drops or frequency without professional advice.

CONTACT LENS INSTRUCTIONS

• Remove soft contact lenses before applying the medicine.
• Wait at least 15 minutes before reinserting lenses, unless your doctor or product leaflet advises otherwise.
• Avoid wearing contact lenses when the eyes are actively red or irritated.

USING OTHER EYE DROPS

• If other eye medicines are prescribed, separate different eye-drop applications by at least 5 to 10 minutes or according to your doctor's instructions.
• Eye ointments are generally applied after eye drops when both are prescribed.

MISSED DOSE

• Use the missed dose when remembered unless it is nearly time for the next scheduled dose.

PREGNANCY

BREASTFEEDING

ALCOHOL

DRIVING AND MACHINERY

CONTACT LENSES

• The preservative benzalkonium chloride may be absorbed by soft contact lenses and can cause irritation.

DROPPER HYGIENE
