This medicine is commonly used for inflammatory skin and ear conditions that are complicated by bacterial infection.
WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR
- Eczema and dermatitis with infection
- Allergic skin reactions with infection risk
- Infected inflammatory ear conditions
- Psoriasis patches that are infected
- Insect bite reactions with secondary infection
HOW IT WORKS
- Betamethasone is a corticosteroid that reduces redness, itching, swelling and inflammation
- Neomycin is an antibiotic that kills or stops growth of susceptible bacteria on the skin or in the ear
- Together they control both inflammation and the infection causing or worsening it
WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR
- Plain fungal infections without inflammation
- Viral skin infections such as chickenpox or herpes
- Untreated tuberculosis of the skin
- Acne or rosacea
- Long-term routine use on normal skin
- Deep wounds or major skin injuries without doctor's advice

COMMON SIDE EFFECTS
- Mild burning or stinging at the application site
- Itching
- Dryness of skin
- Redness
LESS COMMON SIDE EFFECTS
- Thinning of skin with prolonged use
- Stretch marks on skin
- Increased hair growth at the site
- Change in skin colour
SERIOUS SIDE EFFECTS — STOP AND SEE A DOCTOR IMMEDIATELY
- Signs of allergic reaction such as rash, swelling of face/lips, difficulty breathing
- Hearing loss or ringing in ears (especially with ear use)
- Severe skin irritation, blistering or peeling
- Signs of wider infection such as fever, pus, or worsening of the treated area
- Vision problems if used near or in the eyes

How to Use BETNOVATE-N-CREAM (BETAMETHASONE 0.1% W/V+NEOMYCIN 0.5%W/V)
HOW TO TAKE IT
- Use only on the skin or as directed by your doctor for ear or eye conditions
- Wash and dry the affected area gently before application
- Apply a thin layer as advised, usually once or twice a day
- Wash your hands after applying, unless the hands are being treated
- Do not cover the area tightly with bandages unless your doctor tells you to
- Use for as long as prescribed; do not stop early or extend use on your own
- Avoid contact with eyes, nose or mouth unless the product is specifically meant for that use
IF YOU MISS A DOSE
- Apply as soon as you remember
- If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed one
- Do not apply extra or double amount to make up for a missed dose
STORAGE
- Store at room temperature, away from direct sunlight and moisture
- Keep the cap tightly closed after use
- Keep out of reach of children
- Do not use after the expiry date printed on the pack

This medicine is available only with a doctor's prescription in India.
DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICINE IF YOU
- Are allergic to betamethasone, neomycin or other similar antibiotics
- Have a viral infection like chickenpox, herpes, or a fungal skin infection alone
- Have untreated skin tuberculosis
- Have an open wound or perforated ear drum (for ear use) without doctor's advice
TELL YOUR DOCTOR BEFORE STARTING IF YOU
- Are pregnant or breastfeeding
- Are using it on a child
- Have diabetes or a weak immune system
- Have very thin or damaged skin
- Need to use it on large areas of the body or for a long time
- Have any hearing problems, if used in the ear
MEDICINES THAT CAN INTERACT
- Other steroid creams or oral steroids
- Other antibiotics, especially those affecting hearing or kidneys
- Live vaccines, if steroid is used in large amounts or for long periods
