This combination medicine is mainly used to treat conditions caused by excess stomach acid along with symptoms of slow stomach emptying, such as bloating, nausea, and vomiting.
WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR
- Acid reflux and heartburn
- Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD)
- Acid-related indigestion with nausea, bloating or vomiting
- Peptic ulcer disease as part of overall management
- Prevention of acid-related stomach discomfort in some cases
HOW IT WORKS
- Esomeprazole is a proton pump inhibitor that blocks acid-producing pumps in the stomach lining
- This reduces the amount of acid released into the stomach
- Domperidone increases the movement of the stomach and intestines, helping food pass through faster
- Domperidone also acts on the brain to reduce the feeling of nausea and vomiting
WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR
- It is not a painkiller and does not treat general body pain
- It is not meant for long-term unsupervised use without medical review
- It is not a treatment for infections or food poisoning

- Yellowing of skin or eyes, dark urine (signs of liver problems)
- Unusual bruising or bleeding
- Signs of low magnesium such as muscle cramps, seizures, or irregular heartbeat with long-term use

How to Use BLUPRAZ D Capsules (Esomeprazole 40mg + Domperidone 30mg)
HOW TO TAKE IT
- Take exactly as prescribed by your doctor, usually once daily
- It is generally taken before a meal, commonly in the morning
- Swallow the tablet or capsule whole with water; do not chew or crush unless your doctor says it is fine
- Do not increase the dose or use it for longer than advised
- Continue taking it for the full duration prescribed, even if you feel better
IF YOU MISS A DOSE
- Take it as soon as you remember
- If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed one
- Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one
STORAGE
- Store at room temperature, away from direct heat, light and moisture
- Keep out of reach of children
- Do not use after the expiry date printed on the pack
- Do not store in the bathroom or near a sink

DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICINE IF YOU
- Are allergic to esomeprazole, domperidone, or similar medicines
- Have a known heart rhythm problem or are taking medicines that can affect heart rhythm
- Have moderate to severe liver disease
- Have a tumour of the pituitary gland that raises prolactin levels
- Have bleeding from the stomach or intestines that has not been checked by a doctor
TELL YOUR DOCTOR BEFORE STARTING IF YOU
- Have any heart disease or family history of irregular heartbeat
- Have kidney or liver problems
- Are pregnant, planning pregnancy, or breastfeeding
- Are taking other medicines, including over-the-counter drugs and supplements
- Have osteoporosis or a history of fractures, as long-term acid suppression may affect bone health
MEDICINES THAT CAN INTERACT
- Other medicines that affect heart rhythm, such as certain antibiotics or antifungals
- Blood thinners like warfarin
- Antifungal or antiviral medicines whose absorption depends on stomach acid
- Other drugs metabolised by the liver, including some antidepressants and epilepsy medicines
- Medicines for HIV, as effectiveness may be reduced
