This combination medicine is mainly used to treat bacterial infections of the urinary tract, respiratory tract, and other body systems where a broad-spectrum antibiotic is needed.
WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR
- Urinary tract infections
- Respiratory tract infections such as bronchitis
- Ear, nose and throat infections
- Typhoid fever
- Skin and soft tissue infections
- Other bacterial infections as advised by your doctor
HOW IT WORKS
- Cefixime works by weakening the bacterial cell wall, causing the bacteria to die
- Ofloxacin works by blocking enzymes bacteria need to copy their DNA, stopping them from multiplying
- Together they give a broader coverage against different types of bacteria
WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR
- Viral infections such as common cold, flu, or most sore throats
- Fungal infections
- As a general painkiller or fever medicine

How to Use CEFTAS O DS Tablets (Cefixime 400mg + Ofloxacin 400mg)
HOW TO TAKE IT
- Take exactly as prescribed by your doctor, usually as a tablet taken by mouth
- Can be taken with or without food, but taking it with food may reduce stomach upset
- Swallow the tablet with a glass of water; do not crush or chew unless advised
- Complete the full course even if you feel better before finishing it
- Take doses at evenly spaced times each day as directed
- Drink plenty of fluids while on this medicine
IF YOU MISS A DOSE
- Take the missed dose as soon as you remember
- If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed one and continue as normal
- Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one

DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICINE IF YOU
- Are allergic to cefixime, ofloxacin, or other cephalosporin or fluoroquinolone antibiotics
- Have a history of tendon problems linked to fluoroquinolone use
- Are a child or growing adolescent, unless specifically advised by a doctor
- Are pregnant or breastfeeding, unless your doctor says it is necessary
TELL YOUR DOCTOR BEFORE STARTING IF YOU
- Have kidney or liver disease
- Have a history of epilepsy or seizures
- Have myasthenia gravis or other nerve-muscle disorders
- Have a history of heart rhythm problems
- Have diabetes
- Are elderly, as risk of tendon problems is higher
MEDICINES THAT CAN INTERACT
- Antacids, iron, or zinc supplements (space doses apart)
- Blood thinners like warfarin
- Other medicines affecting heart rhythm
- NSAIDs like ibuprofen when combined with fluoroquinolones
- Theophylline and certain diabetes medicines
