Cefuroxime 750mg is used to treat infections caused by bacteria that are sensitive to this medicine.
WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR
- Respiratory tract infections such as bronchitis and pneumonia
- Urinary tract infections
- Skin and soft tissue infections
- Bone and joint infections
- Infections after surgery, to prevent or treat them
- Gonorrhoea and certain other bacterial infections
HOW IT WORKS
- Cefuroxime belongs to a group of antibiotics called cephalosporins
- It works by damaging the protective outer wall of bacteria
- This stops the bacteria from growing and multiplying, and they eventually die
- It is effective against many common disease-causing bacteria
WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR
- Viral infections such as common cold, flu, or most sore throats
- Fungal infections
- As a general painkiller or fever reducer
- Without proper medical diagnosis of a bacterial infection
