Uses and Benefits of CETIL SYRUP (CEFUROXIME 125MG)
Cefuroxime 125mg is used to treat infections caused by bacteria that are sensitive to it.
WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR
- Respiratory tract infections such as bronchitis and sinusitis
- Throat and tonsil infections
- Ear infections
- Urinary tract infections
- Skin and soft tissue infections
- Early stage of certain tick-borne infections, if advised by doctor
HOW IT WORKS
- Cefuroxime stops bacteria from building their protective cell wall
- Without a proper cell wall, the bacteria are unable to survive and multiply
- This helps clear the infection and relieve symptoms like fever, pain and swelling
WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR
- It is not effective against viral infections like common cold or flu
- It should not be used to treat infections not confirmed or suspected to be bacterial
- It is not a painkiller and does not directly reduce fever except by treating the underlying infection
- Not to be used without medical advice for self-diagnosed infections

- Yellowing of skin or eyes, dark urine (signs of liver problem)
- Unusual bleeding or bruising
- Severe skin reaction with blistering or peeling

How to Use CETIL SYRUP (CEFUROXIME 125MG)
HOW TO TAKE IT
- Take exactly as prescribed by your doctor, in the dose and frequency advised
- Can be taken with or after food to reduce stomach upset
- Swallow tablets whole; do not crush unless your doctor says it is fine
- If using liquid suspension, shake well and use the measuring cup provided
- Complete the full course even if you feel better before finishing it
IF YOU MISS A DOSE
- Take the missed dose as soon as you remember
- If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed one and continue as usual
- Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one
STORAGE
- Store at room temperature, away from direct heat, light and moisture
- Keep the liquid suspension in the refrigerator if advised on the label, and discard unused portion after the recommended period
- Keep all medicines out of reach of children

DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICINE IF YOU
- Are allergic to cefuroxime or other cephalosporin antibiotics
- Have had a severe allergic reaction to penicillin antibiotics in the past

- Have a history of stomach or intestinal disease, especially colitis

- Antacids or acid-reducing medicines, which may reduce absorption
- Probenecid, which can increase levels of cefuroxime in the body
- Oral contraceptive pills, whose effectiveness may be reduced
- Blood thinners like warfarin, requiring monitoring of blood clotting
