Uses and Benefits of CIPLOX Drops (Ciprofloxacin 0.3%)

This composition is used to treat bacterial infections affecting the eye or the ear.

WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR

• Bacterial conjunctivitis (red, infected eye)
• Bacterial corneal ulcers (as advised by an eye specialist)
• Bacterial infections of the outer ear canal (otitis externa)
• Ear discharge caused by bacterial infection
• Post-operative eye infection prevention, if prescribed

HOW IT WORKS

• Ciprofloxacin belongs to the fluoroquinolone group of antibiotics
• It stops bacteria from multiplying by blocking an enzyme they need to copy their DNA
• This leads to death of the bacteria causing the infection
• Because it works only on bacteria, it does not help with viral or fungal infections

WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR

• Viral eye infections such as common viral conjunctivitis
• Fungal eye or ear infections
• Allergic eye redness or itching
• Ear pain caused by wax build-up alone
• General pain relief

Always use this medicine only for the condition and duration your doctor has prescribed, and complete the full course even if symptoms improve early.

Side Effects of CIPLOX Drops (Ciprofloxacin 0.3%)

COMMON SIDE EFFECTS

• Mild burning or stinging when applied
• Temporary blurred vision (eye drops)
• Itching or redness at the site of application
• Bitter or unusual taste in the mouth after eye drop use

LESS COMMON SIDE EFFECTS

• Eyelid swelling or crusting
• Dryness or irritation of the eye or ear canal
• Sensitivity to light
• White crystalline deposits on the eye surface (with frequent use)

SERIOUS SIDE EFFECTS — STOP AND SEE A DOCTOR IMMEDIATELY

• Severe eye pain or worsening redness
• Sudden vision loss or significant vision changes
• Signs of an allergic reaction such as swelling of the face, lips, or difficulty breathing
• Severe rash, blistering, or peeling of the skin
• Persistent ear pain, pus discharge, or hearing loss

How to Use CIPLOX Drops (Ciprofloxacin 0.3%)

HOW TO TAKE IT

• Use only as directed by your doctor, in the affected eye or ear
• Wash your hands before and after using the drops
• For eye drops, tilt the head back, pull down the lower eyelid, and place the drop inside without touching the tip to the eye or skin
• For ear drops, tilt the head sideways and let the drop enter the ear canal, then stay in position for a minute
• Do not touch the dropper tip to any surface to avoid contamination
• Continue for the full duration prescribed, even if symptoms improve

IF YOU MISS A DOSE

• Apply it as soon as you remember
• If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed one and continue as scheduled
• Do not apply a double dose to make up for a missed one

STORAGE

• Store at room temperature, away from direct sunlight and heat
• Keep the container tightly closed when not in use
• Discard the bottle after the period advised on the label or by your pharmacist once opened
• Keep out of reach of children

DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICINE IF YOU
