WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR
- Respiratory tract infections like sinusitis, tonsillitis, and bronchitis
- Ear infections
- Urinary tract infections
- Skin and soft tissue infections
- Dental infections
- Infections after certain surgeries, as advised by the doctor
HOW IT WORKS
- Amoxycillin kills bacteria by stopping them from building their protective cell wall
- Clavulanic acid blocks an enzyme some bacteria use to destroy amoxycillin
- Together they widen the range of bacteria the medicine can treat
WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR
- It does not work on viral infections like common cold, flu, or most sore throats
- It is not effective against fungal infections
- It should not be used for infections not confirmed or suspected to be bacterial
- It is not a painkiller and does not relieve pain on its own
Always complete the full course as prescribed, even if you feel better early, to prevent the infection from returning or bacteria becoming resistant.
