This medicine combination is used to treat moderate to severe bacterial infections in different parts of the body, especially when resistant bacteria are suspected.
WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR
- Serious lung and respiratory tract infections, including hospital-acquired pneumonia
- Urinary tract infections
- Skin and soft tissue infections
- Abdominal (intra-abdominal) infections
- Bloodstream infections (septicaemia)
- Infections in patients with weak immunity, including certain hospital-acquired infections
HOW IT WORKS
- Ceftazidime stops bacteria from building their protective cell wall, causing them to die
- Tazobactam blocks an enzyme (beta-lactamase) that some bacteria use to destroy ceftazidime
- Together, they widen the range of bacteria the antibiotic can treat, including some resistant strains
WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR
- Viral infections such as common cold, flu, or most sore throats
- Fungal infections
- Minor infections that can be treated with oral antibiotics
- Prevention of infection without a doctor's specific advice

HOW TO TAKE IT
