Uses and Benefits of CONADERM SHAMPOO (KETOCONAZOLE IP 1%)

Ketoconazole IP 1% is used to treat fungal infections of the skin and scalp caused by various types of fungus and yeast.

WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR

• Ringworm infections of the skin (tinea)
• Athlete's foot and jock itch
• Fungal infections causing itching, redness and scaling
• Dandruff and seborrhoeic dermatitis when used as a shampoo
• Pityriasis versicolor, a fungal skin condition causing patchy discoloration

HOW IT WORKS

• It damages the cell membrane of the fungus
• This stops the fungus from growing and multiplying
• It gradually clears the infection and reduces associated itching, redness and flaking

WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR

• It is not used for bacterial skin infections
• It is not used for viral skin conditions like warts or herpes
• It is not meant for internal or oral use unless a different specific form is prescribed by a doctor
• It does not treat allergic skin rashes not caused by fungus

COMMON SIDE EFFECTS

• Mild burning or stinging at the application site
• Itching

LESS COMMON SIDE EFFECTS

• Oily or dry hair after shampoo use
• Change in hair texture with regular shampoo use
• Mild rash around the applied area

SERIOUS SIDE EFFECTS — STOP AND SEE A DOCTOR IMMEDIATELY

• Severe itching, swelling or blistering of the skin
• Signs of allergic reaction such as swelling of face, lips or difficulty breathing
• Severe redness or pain that worsens after application
• Oozing, pus or signs of worsening infection

How to Use CONADERM SHAMPOO (KETOCONAZOLE IP 1%)

HOW TO TAKE IT

• Use only on the skin or scalp as directed by your doctor
• Clean and dry the affected area before applying
• Apply a thin layer of cream or lotion, or use the shampoo as instructed
• Wash your hands after applying, unless hands are the area being treated
• Do not cover the area with airtight bandages unless told to do so
• Continue using for the full duration advised, even if symptoms improve early
• Avoid contact with eyes, nose, mouth and open wounds

IF YOU MISS A DOSE

• Apply it as soon as you remember
• If it is almost time for the next application, skip the missed one
• Do not apply extra to make up for a missed dose

STORAGE

• Store at room temperature, away from direct sunlight and moisture
• Keep the container tightly closed
• Keep out of reach of children
• Do not use after the expiry date printed on the pack

DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICINE IF YOU
