Uses and Benefits of DIPROBATE RD CREAM (BETAMETHASONE DIPROPIONATE)
Betamethasone dipropionate is mainly used to treat inflammatory skin conditions where redness, itching, swelling or scaling occur.
WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR
- Eczema and dermatitis
- Psoriasis (skin patches, not widespread severe disease)
- Allergic skin reactions and rashes
- Itching and inflammation due to insect bites or contact irritants
- Other inflammatory skin disorders as advised by a doctor
HOW IT WORKS
- It belongs to a group of medicines called corticosteroids
- It reduces the release of chemicals in the skin that cause inflammation, redness, itching and swelling
- It also reduces the activity of immune cells in the skin that overreact in these conditions
WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR
- It is not used for acne caused by bacteria
- It is not used to treat skin infections caused by fungus, bacteria or virus unless combined with another specific medicine for that purpose
- It is not a cure for the underlying skin disease; it only controls symptoms
- It should not be used on normal, healthy skin for cosmetic reasons

COMMON SIDE EFFECTS
- Burning or stinging sensation at the application site
- Itching
- Dryness of skin
- Mild redness
LESS COMMON SIDE EFFECTS
- Thinning of skin with prolonged use
- Stretch marks (striae)
- Changes in skin colour at the applied area
- Increased hair growth at the site
- Small visible blood vessels on skin
SERIOUS SIDE EFFECTS — STOP AND SEE A DOCTOR IMMEDIATELY
- Severe allergic reaction such as swelling of face, lips or throat, or difficulty breathing
- Signs of skin infection such as increased pain, pus, or spreading redness
- Significant thinning or bruising of skin
- Symptoms of high steroid absorption such as unusual weight gain, weakness, or mood changes, especially with long-term or extensive use
- Vision changes if used near the eyes

How to Use DIPROBATE RD CREAM (BETAMETHASONE DIPROPIONATE)
HOW TO TAKE IT
- Use only on the skin, exactly as advised by your doctor
- Wash and dry the affected area before applying
- Apply a thin layer and gently rub in
- Wash your hands after application, unless hands are the treated area
- Do not cover the area with airtight dressings unless your doctor tells you to
- Do not use more often or for longer than prescribed
- Avoid applying on the face, groin or underarms unless specifically advised, as skin here is more sensitive
IF YOU MISS A DOSE
- Apply it as soon as you remember
- If it is almost time for your next application, skip the missed one
- Do not apply extra to make up for a missed dose
STORAGE
- Store at room temperature, away from direct heat and sunlight
- Keep the tube or bottle tightly closed
- Keep out of reach of children
- Do not use after the expiry date printed on the pack

DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICINE IF YOU

- Have thin or damaged skin at the site, unless advised by the doctor

- Are pregnant or breastfeeding
- Are using it on a child
- Plan to use it on large areas of the body or for a long duration
- Have diabetes
- Have any skin infection
- Are using other steroid medicines, creams or inhalers
