Uses and Benefits of DUBATRAN INJECTION (TRANEXAMIC ACID 500MG)

Tranexamic Acid 500mg is mainly used to control excessive bleeding in various medical situations.

WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR

• Heavy menstrual bleeding (menorrhagia)
• Bleeding after tooth extraction or surgery
• Nosebleeds that are frequent or heavy
• Bleeding disorders such as hereditary angioedema (in some cases)
• Bleeding during or after certain surgical procedures

HOW IT WORKS

• It blocks the breakdown of blood clots by inhibiting an enzyme called plasmin
• This helps clots remain stable at the site of bleeding
• As a result, bleeding is reduced or stopped more quickly

WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR

• It is not a painkiller and does not treat menstrual cramps
• It does not treat infections or the underlying cause of bleeding
• It is not used to prevent blood clots in veins (it does the opposite, it stabilises clots)
• It should not be used for bleeding without medical evaluation to find the cause

COMMON SIDE EFFECTS

• Nausea

SERIOUS SIDE EFFECTS — STOP AND SEE A DOCTOR IMMEDIATELY

• Sudden vision changes or blurred vision
• Signs of a blood clot such as leg pain and swelling, chest pain, or shortness of breath
• Severe allergic reaction with swelling of face, lips, or throat, and difficulty breathing
• Seizures (reported mainly with very high doses or injection use)
• Severe dizziness or fainting

How to Use DUBATRAN INJECTION (TRANEXAMIC ACID 500MG)

HOW TO TAKE IT

• Take this medicine exactly as prescribed by your doctor, usually with water
• It can be taken with or without food, but taking it with food may reduce stomach upset
• Do not increase or decrease the dose on your own
• Complete the full course even if bleeding improves earlier
• Swallow the tablet whole; do not crush or chew unless your doctor advises otherwise

IF YOU MISS A DOSE

• Take it as soon as you remember
• If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose
• Do not take two doses together to make up for a missed one
• If you miss doses often, inform your doctor

STORAGE

• Store at room temperature, away from direct sunlight and moisture
• Keep out of reach of children
• Do not use after the expiry date printed on the pack
• Do not store in the bathroom or near a sink

DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICINE IF YOU

• Have a known allergy to tranexamic acid
• Have an active blood clot (such as deep vein thrombosis or pulmonary embolism)
• Have a history of seizures (in certain formulations/routes)
• Have severe kidney impairment without dose adjustment advised by a doctor
