This medicine is used to treat various inflammatory skin conditions caused by allergy, irritation or overactive immune response in the skin.

WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR

• Eczema and dermatitis
• Psoriasis (skin patches)
• Allergic skin reactions
• Itching and redness due to skin inflammation
• Insect bite reactions affecting the skin

HOW IT WORKS

• It is a corticosteroid that reduces inflammation by acting on skin cells
• It suppresses the local immune response responsible for redness, swelling and itching
• It helps calm the skin and gives relief from irritation

WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR

• It is not used for acne
• It is not used for viral infections like chickenpox or herpes on the skin
• It is not used for fungal skin infections unless specifically advised
• It is not used for open wounds or burns without doctor guidance
• It is not a substitute for oral treatment in severe or widespread disease

COMMON SIDE EFFECTS

• Burning or stinging at the application site
• Itching
• Dryness of skin
• Redness

LESS COMMON SIDE EFFECTS

• Thinning of skin with prolonged use
• Stretch marks
• Small visible blood vessels on skin
• Change in skin colour at the applied area
• Increased hair growth at the site

SERIOUS SIDE EFFECTS — STOP AND SEE A DOCTOR IMMEDIATELY

• Severe allergic reaction with swelling of face, lips or throat
• Signs of skin infection such as pus, increasing pain or spreading redness
• Severe skin thinning or bruising
• Vision problems if used near the eyes
• Signs of absorption into the body such as unusual weight gain or weakness with long-term use

How to Use ELOCON CREAM (MOMETASONE 0.1% W/W)

HOW TO TAKE IT

• Apply a thin layer to the affected skin area as prescribed by your doctor
• Wash and dry hands before and after application
• Do not apply on broken skin, wounds or infected areas unless advised
• Avoid applying near the eyes, mouth or genital area unless specifically instructed
• Do not cover the treated area tightly unless your doctor advises this
• Use only for the duration advised by your doctor; do not use for longer than prescribed

IF YOU MISS A DOSE

• Apply as soon as you remember
• If it is almost time for the next application, skip the missed one
• Do not apply extra to make up for a missed dose

STORAGE

• Store at room temperature, away from direct heat and sunlight
• Keep the cap tightly closed
• Keep out of reach of children
• Do not use after the expiry date printed on the pack

DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICINE IF YOU
