This medicine is used to treat and prevent seizures (fits) caused by epilepsy and certain other conditions affecting brain activity.
WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR
- Controlling status epilepticus (prolonged or repeated seizures)
- Preventing seizures during and after certain types of brain surgery
- Treating seizures caused by head injury in emergency settings
- Long-term seizure control when oral medicine cannot be taken
HOW IT WORKS
- Blocks abnormal electrical signals in brain cells
- Stabilises overactive nerve membranes by acting on sodium channels
- Reduces spread of seizure activity across the brain
- Helps restore normal nerve cell function during a seizure episode
WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR
