Uses and Benefits of FIASP PENFIL (INSULIN ASPART (100IU/ML))
Insulin Aspart is used to manage blood sugar levels in people with diabetes.
WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR
- Controlling high blood sugar in type 1 diabetes
- Controlling high blood sugar in type 2 diabetes when other treatments are not enough
- Managing blood sugar spikes that occur after meals
- Used as part of a combination insulin regimen along with longer-acting insulin
HOW IT WORKS
- It is a man-made form of insulin that works like the natural insulin produced by the body
- It helps move sugar (glucose) from the blood into the body's cells for energy
- It starts working quickly, so it is given close to mealtimes
- Its fast action helps prevent high blood sugar after eating
WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR
- It is not used to treat low blood sugar (hypoglycemia)
- It is not a cure for diabetes
- It is not used for type 1 diabetes ketoacidosis emergency treatment without medical supervision
- It is not recommended for use without regular blood sugar monitoring
Side Effects of FIASP PENFIL (INSULIN ASPART (100IU/ML))
COMMON SIDE EFFECTS
- Low blood sugar (hypoglycemia)
- Redness, swelling or itching at the injection site
- Weight gain
- Mild headache
LESS COMMON SIDE EFFECTS
- Changes in fat tissue under the skin at injection site (lumps or dents)
- Swelling of hands or feet
- Blurred vision, especially when starting treatment
- Itching or rash over the body
SERIOUS SIDE EFFECTS — STOP AND SEE A DOCTOR IMMEDIATELY
- Signs of severe low blood sugar such as confusion, sweating, shaking, fainting or seizures
- Severe allergic reaction with swelling of face, lips, tongue or throat, and difficulty breathing
- Very low potassium levels causing muscle weakness or irregular heartbeat
- Sudden weight gain, swelling, or shortness of breath (signs of heart problems)

How to Use FIASP PENFIL (INSULIN ASPART (100IU/ML))
HOW TO TAKE IT
- Use exactly as prescribed by your doctor, usually injected under the skin shortly before a meal
- Do not inject into a vein or muscle unless specifically instructed by your doctor
- Rotate injection sites (abdomen, thigh, upper arm) to prevent skin problems
- Check your blood sugar regularly as advised by your doctor
- Do not change the dose or stop using it without consulting your doctor
IF YOU MISS A DOSE
- If you miss a dose close to a meal, check your blood sugar and contact your doctor for guidance
- Do not double the dose to make up for a missed one
- Follow your doctor's instructions on timing of the next dose
STORAGE
- Store unopened vials/pens in a refrigerator (do not freeze)
- Once in use, the vial/pen can usually be kept at room temperature away from heat and sunlight, as per the manufacturer's instructions
- Keep out of reach of children
- Do not use if the solution appears cloudy, discolored, or has particles (it should look clear)
- Discard as per local guidelines; do not dispose of in household waste

DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICINE IF YOU
- Are currently having an episode of low blood sugar (hypoglycemia)
- Are allergic to insulin aspart or any of its components
- Have not been advised by a doctor to use insulin
TELL YOUR DOCTOR BEFORE STARTING IF YOU
- Have kidney or liver problems
- Are pregnant, planning pregnancy, or breastfeeding
- Have a history of frequent low blood sugar episodes
- Are taking other medicines, including over-the-counter drugs and supplements
- Have any other illness, infection, or are about to undergo surgery
MEDICINES THAT CAN INTERACT
- Other diabetes medicines (oral tablets or insulins)
- Beta-blockers, which may mask symptoms of low blood sugar
- Steroids and certain hormonal medicines, which can raise blood sugar
- Certain antidepressants and blood pressure medicines
- Alcohol, which can affect blood sugar control
