This medicine is prescribed to treat bacterial infections in various parts of the body.

WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR

• Respiratory tract infections such as sinusitis, bronchitis and pneumonia
• Ear infections
• Throat infections
• Urinary tract infections
• Skin and soft tissue infections
• Dental infections
• Infections after surgery, as advised by the doctor

HOW IT WORKS

• Amoxycillin is a penicillin-type antibiotic that kills bacteria by stopping them from building their protective cell wall
• Some bacteria produce an enzyme that destroys amoxycillin before it can act
• Clavulanic acid blocks this enzyme, allowing amoxycillin to work effectively even against these resistant bacteria

WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR

• Viral infections such as common cold, flu or most sore throats
• Fever without a diagnosed bacterial cause
• Malaria or other parasitic infections
• Self-treatment without a doctor's prescription

COMMON SIDE EFFECTS

• Severe allergic reaction with swelling of face, lips, tongue or throat
• Difficulty breathing
• Severe skin rash, blistering or peeling of skin
• Yellowing of skin or eyes, dark urine, or signs of liver problems
• Severe or bloody diarrhoea, especially with stomach cramps and fever
• Unusual bruising or bleeding

How to Use FIGHTOX-KID TABLET (AMOXYCILLIN 200MG + CLAVULANIC ACID 28.5MG)

HOW TO TAKE IT

• Take exactly as prescribed by your doctor, at the same times each day
• Swallow tablets with a glass of water; shake the syrup well before measuring a dose with the given cup or spoon
• It is best taken at the start of a meal to reduce stomach upset
• Complete the full course even if you feel better, unless your doctor tells you to stop
• Do not skip doses or take extra doses to make up for a missed one

IF YOU MISS A DOSE

• Take it as soon as you remember
• If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed one and continue your normal schedule
• Do not double the dose to catch up

STORAGE

• Store tablets at room temperature, away from heat and moisture
• Store reconstituted syrup in the refrigerator, not in the freezer, and use within the period mentioned on the label
• Keep out of reach of children
• Discard any unused medicine after the course is complete or after the expiry date

DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICINE IF YOU

• Are allergic to penicillin, amoxycillin, clavulanic acid or other antibiotics
• Have had jaundice or liver problems after taking a similar antibiotic before

• Have kidney or liver disease
• Have a history of allergies or asthma
• Are pregnant or breastfeeding
• Have glandular fever (infectious mononucleosis)
• Are on a sodium or potassium restricted diet

MEDICINES THAT CAN INTERACT

• Blood thinners such as warfarin
• Methotrexate
• Allopurinol
• Oral contraceptive pills, which may become less effective
• Other antibiotics, without doctor's guidance
