Uses and Benefits of FUSIWAL OINTMENT. (FUSIDIC ACID)
Fusidic acid is used to treat infections caused by certain bacteria, especially those affecting the skin and eyes.
WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR
- Bacterial skin infections such as impetigo, infected wounds, and boils
- Bacterial eye infections like conjunctivitis (as eye drops)
- Certain deeper infections such as bone or joint infections when taken as tablets under medical supervision
HOW IT WORKS
- It stops bacteria from making the proteins they need to grow and multiply
- This slows down and eventually kills the bacteria causing the infection
- It is effective mainly against a specific type of bacteria called Staphylococcus
WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR
- It does not work against viral infections such as cold sores or flu
- It does not work against fungal infections
- It should not be used for infections not confirmed or suspected to be bacterial
- It is not a general painkiller or anti-inflammatory medicine

HOW TO TAKE IT
- Use exactly as prescribed by your doctor, in the form given (cream, ointment, eye drops, or tablets)
- For skin use, clean and dry the affected area before applying a thin layer
- For eye drops, wash hands before use and avoid touching the dropper tip to the eye
- Complete the full course even if the infection appears to improve earlier
- Do not use more often or for longer than advised
IF YOU MISS A DOSE
- Apply or take the missed dose as soon as you remember
- If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed one and continue as usual
- Do not double the amount to make up for a missed dose
STORAGE
- Store at room temperature, away from direct heat and sunlight
- Keep out of reach of children
- Do not use after the expiry date printed on the pack
- Keep the container tightly closed when not in use
