Uses and Benefits of HERPEX 5% CREAM (Aciclovir 5%)
Aciclovir 5% is mainly used to treat infections of the skin caused by the herpes simplex virus.
WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR
- Cold sores (herpes labialis) on the lips and around the mouth
- Genital herpes skin lesions
- Other herpes simplex virus skin infections as advised by the doctor
HOW IT WORKS
- It stops the herpes virus from multiplying in the skin cells
- This helps reduce pain, itching, and the spread of the sores
- It can shorten the healing time of the outbreak
WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR
- It does not cure herpes infection permanently; the virus can remain in the body and cause future outbreaks
- It is not used for chickenpox or shingles rash unless specifically advised by a doctor
- It is not effective against bacterial or fungal skin infections
- It is not meant for use inside the eyes or mouth unless a special formulation is prescribed

How to Use HERPEX 5% CREAM (Aciclovir 5%)
HOW TO TAKE IT
- Wash and dry the affected area gently before applying
- Apply a thin layer of the cream/ointment to the affected skin as prescribed by your doctor, usually several times a day
- Use a clean fingertip or cotton swab to apply, and wash your hands before and after application
- Avoid contact with eyes, inside the nose, or mouth unless specifically directed
- Continue using for the full duration advised by your doctor, even if the sore looks better
IF YOU MISS A DOSE
- Apply it as soon as you remember
- If it is almost time for the next application, skip the missed one and continue as usual
- Do not apply extra amounts to make up for a missed dose
STORAGE
- Store at room temperature, away from direct sunlight and moisture
- Keep the tube tightly closed after use
- Keep out of reach of children
- Do not use after the expiry date printed on the pack
