Uses and Benefits of INSTARAFT SUSPENSION (Calcium Carbonate (80mg) + Sodium Alginate (250mg) + Sodium Bicarbonate (133.5mg))

This medicine is mainly used to treat heartburn, acid reflux and the discomfort caused by gastro-oesophageal reflux disease (GERD).

WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR

• Relief of heartburn and acid indigestion
• Relief of reflux symptoms, especially after meals or at bedtime
• Symptomatic relief during pregnancy-related acidity (under doctor's guidance)

HOW IT WORKS

• Sodium Alginate reacts with stomach acid to form a floating gel-like raft that sits on top of stomach contents
• This raft physically blocks acid from flowing back into the food pipe
• Calcium Carbonate and Sodium Bicarbonate neutralise excess stomach acid, giving quick relief
• Together they provide both immediate neutralisation and longer-lasting protection against reflux

WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR

• Not a treatment for stomach ulcers or H. pylori infection
• Not intended for long-term control of severe acid disorders without medical supervision
• Not a pain-killer and does not treat unrelated abdominal pain
• Not suitable as a routine calcium or sodium supplement

• Severe stomach pain or persistent vomiting
• Signs of high calcium levels such as confusion, excessive thirst, or irregular heartbeat (with prolonged overuse)
• Swelling in legs or unusual weight gain, which may indicate too much sodium intake

How to Use INSTARAFT SUSPENSION (Calcium Carbonate (80mg) + Sodium Alginate (250mg) + Sodium Bicarbonate (133.5mg))

HOW TO TAKE IT

• Take exactly as advised by your doctor or as mentioned on the product label
• Usually taken after meals and before bedtime
• If using a liquid, shake well before use and take with the measuring cup provided
• If using chewable tablets, chew thoroughly before swallowing; do not swallow whole
• Do not take more than the recommended number of doses in a day
• Avoid lying down immediately after taking it; try to stay upright for a short while

IF YOU MISS A DOSE

• This medicine is usually taken as needed for symptoms, so a missed dose is generally not a concern
• If it has been prescribed on a fixed schedule, take the missed dose when you remember, unless it is almost time for the next one
• Do not double the dose to make up for a missed one

STORAGE

• Store at room temperature, away from direct sunlight and moisture
• Keep the cap tightly closed after use

DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICINE IF YOU

• Are allergic to any of its ingredients
• Have been advised to restrict sodium intake severely, such as in certain heart or kidney conditions, without checking with your doctor
• Have very high blood calcium levels

TELL YOUR DOCTOR BEFORE STARTING IF YOU

• Have kidney disease
• Have heart failure or are on a salt-restricted diet
• Are pregnant or breastfeeding
• Are taking other calcium, vitamin D, or antacid products regularly
• Have a history of kidney stones

MEDICINES THAT CAN INTERACT

• Certain antibiotics such as tetracyclines and quinolones, as antacids can reduce their absorption
• Iron supplements
• Thyroid hormone medicines
• Some heart medicines like digoxin
• Other calcium or sodium-containing products

Leave a gap of a couple of hours between this medicine and other oral medicines when possible.
