Doxorubicin is used in the treatment of several types of cancer as part of a chemotherapy regimen decided by an oncologist.
WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR
- Breast cancer
- Certain types of leukaemia and lymphoma
- Ovarian cancer
- Bladder cancer
- Sarcomas (cancers of bone and soft tissue)
- Other cancers as decided by your oncologist
HOW IT WORKS
- It inserts itself into the DNA of cancer cells and blocks an enzyme needed for cell division
- This prevents cancer cells from multiplying and eventually leads to their death
- It also affects some normal, fast-growing cells, which explains many of its side effects
WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR
- It is not used for minor infections or non-cancerous conditions
- It is not a painkiller or a general antibiotic
- It should not be used outside a supervised cancer treatment plan
- It is not suitable for self-administration at home

COMMON SIDE EFFECTS

- High fever, chills, or signs of severe infection
- Unusual bleeding or bruising
- Severe pain, redness or swelling at the injection site (may indicate leakage into surrounding tissue)
- Severe allergic reaction such as swelling of face/throat, breathing difficulty, or rash

How to Use LIPODOX 20MG INJECTION (DOXORUBICIN 20MG.)
HOW TO TAKE IT
- Doxorubicin is given only by injection into a vein, by a doctor or nurse in a hospital or clinic
- It is never taken as a tablet or self-administered at home
- Your doctor will decide the dose, frequency, and total number of cycles based on your condition, body size, and response to treatment
- Blood tests and heart function tests are usually done before and during treatment to check safety
- Drink plenty of fluids and follow any additional instructions given by your treatment team, such as anti-nausea medicines
IF YOU MISS A DOSE
- Since this medicine is given under medical supervision on a fixed schedule, missed doses are managed by your treatment team
- Contact your hospital or clinic immediately if you are unable to attend a scheduled appointment for your infusion
- Do not try to make up for a missed dose on your own
STORAGE
- This medicine is stored and handled only by hospital or clinic staff under controlled conditions
- Patients and caregivers are not required to store this medicine at home
- Keep away from children and unauthorised persons if any part of the medicine is temporarily present at home for transport purposes

DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICINE IF YOU
- Are allergic to doxorubicin or similar anthracycline medicines
- Have severe heart disease or very low heart function
- Have severely low blood cell counts
- Are pregnant, unless specifically advised by your oncologist
