This medicine is mainly used to clean out the bowel before a medical procedure.
WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR
- Bowel preparation before colonoscopy
- Bowel cleansing before abdominal or bowel surgery
- Preparation before certain bowel X-ray or imaging tests
- Occasionally used to treat severe constipation under medical supervision
HOW IT WORKS
- Polyethylene glycol holds water in the intestine, softening stool and increasing bowel movement
- The electrolytes (potassium chloride, sodium chloride, sodium bicarbonate) balance the fluid so the body does not lose or gain excess salts during this process
- The combination causes rapid, thorough emptying of the bowel within a few hours
WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR
- Not used for daily or long-term treatment of constipation
- Not used to treat diarrhoea or infections
- Not a general electrolyte or mineral supplement
- Not used for weight loss
- Not meant for children unless specifically advised by a doctor

HOW TO TAKE IT
- Take exactly as instructed by your doctor or hospital before the procedure
- Dissolve the prescribed sachet(s) in the amount of water mentioned on the pack or as instructed
- Drink the solution over the time period advised, usually in the evening before or morning of the procedure
- Stay near a toilet as bowel movements will begin soon after starting
- Drink only clear liquids as advised once you start this preparation
- Do not eat solid food close to the time of taking this medicine unless told otherwise
IF YOU MISS A DOSE
- This medicine is taken as a one-time bowel preparation before a procedure, so missed dose schedules do not usually apply
- If you are unable to complete the full dose, inform your doctor or the hospital staff immediately, as your procedure may need to be rescheduled
STORAGE
- Store the sachets in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight
- Keep out of reach of children
- Once dissolved, use the solution within the time mentioned on the label; do not store the mixed solution for long periods
- Do not use after the expiry date printed on the pack
