Loteprednol Etabonate 0.5%w/v eye drops are used to treat inflammation of the eye caused by various conditions, including after eye surgery.
WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR
- Treating inflammation of the eye due to allergic conjunctivitis
- Managing post-operative eye inflammation after cataract or other eye surgery
- Reducing inflammation in conditions like uveitis (as advised by your doctor)
HOW IT WORKS
- It is a corticosteroid that reduces swelling, redness, and irritation in the eye
- It works by suppressing the immune and inflammatory response locally in the eye tissue
- It does not treat the underlying infection, only the inflammation caused by it or other conditions
WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR
- It is not used to treat bacterial, viral, or fungal eye infections directly
- It is not a substitute for antibiotic or antiviral eye drops when infection is present
- It is not meant for long-term unsupervised use for general eye redness or dryness

COMMON SIDE EFFECTS
- Mild burning or stinging in the eye after applying the drop
- Blurred vision for a short time after use
- Watery eyes or mild irritation
LESS COMMON SIDE EFFECTS
- Increased sensitivity to light
- Dry eyes
- Headache
SERIOUS SIDE EFFECTS — STOP AND SEE A DOCTOR IMMEDIATELY
- Sudden decrease in vision or persistent blurred vision
- Severe eye pain or redness that worsens
- Signs of increased eye pressure such as halos around lights or eye ache
- Signs of eye infection such as discharge, swelling, or worsening redness
- Allergic reaction such as swelling of face, lips, or difficulty breathing

How to Use LOTEPRED 5 MG SUSPENSION (LOTEPREDNOL ETABONATE 0.5%W/V)
HOW TO TAKE IT
- Wash your hands before using the eye drop
- Shake the bottle well before use if instructed on the label
- Tilt your head back and gently pull down the lower eyelid to form a small pocket
- Instil the prescribed number of drops into the eye as directed by your doctor
- Avoid touching the dropper tip to your eye or any surface to prevent contamination
- Close your eye gently for a minute or two after applying to help the medicine spread evenly
- If you use other eye drops, wait at least 5-10 minutes between different medicines
- Do not wear contact lenses while using this medicine unless your doctor allows it
IF YOU MISS A DOSE
- Apply the missed dose as soon as you remember
- If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed one and continue as usual
- Do not apply two doses together to make up for a missed one
STORAGE
- Store at room temperature, away from direct heat and sunlight
- Keep the bottle tightly closed when not in use
- Do not use after the expiry date printed on the label
- Keep out of reach of children

DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICINE IF YOU

- Have glaucoma or a history of high eye pressure
- Have cataracts or a history of eye surgery
- Have a herpes infection of the eye
- Are pregnant, planning pregnancy, or breastfeeding
