Uses and Benefits of LUPITROS-Z EYE DROP (RAVOPROST 0.004% W/V)

This medicine is mainly used to treat conditions where the pressure inside the eye is higher than normal.

WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR

• Open-angle glaucoma
• Ocular hypertension (raised eye pressure without vision loss)
• Long-term control of eye pressure to protect the optic nerve

HOW IT WORKS

• It belongs to a group of medicines called prostaglandin analogues
• It increases the outflow of fluid (aqueous humour) from inside the eye
• This lowers the pressure inside the eye and reduces risk of optic nerve damage

WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR

• It is not used for eye infections
• It is not used for allergic conjunctivitis or red, itchy eyes due to allergy
• It is not a painkiller and does not treat eye injury
• It should not be used for cosmetic eyelash growth without doctor's advice

Side Effects of LUPITROS-Z EYE DROP (RAVOPROST 0.004% W/V)

COMMON SIDE EFFECTS

• Mild eye redness
• Itching or burning sensation in the eye
• Blurred vision for a short time after application
• Feeling of something in the eye

LESS COMMON SIDE EFFECTS

• Darkening of the iris colour over time
• Darkening or thickening of eyelashes
• Darkening of skin around the eyelid
• Dry eyes
• Headache

SERIOUS SIDE EFFECTS — STOP AND SEE A DOCTOR IMMEDIATELY

• Severe eye pain or sudden vision changes
• Swelling of the eye or eyelid
• Signs of allergic reaction such as rash, swelling of face, or difficulty breathing
• Persistent redness that does not improve

How to Use LUPITROS-Z EYE DROP (RAVOPROST 0.004% W/V)

HOW TO TAKE IT

• Use only in the eye(s) as advised by your doctor
• Wash your hands before use
• Tilt your head back, pull down the lower eyelid, and place one drop inside
• Avoid letting the dropper tip touch your eye or any surface
• Press gently on the inner corner of the eye for a minute after applying, to reduce absorption into the body
• If using other eye drops, wait at least 5 minutes between different drops
• Use at the same time every day, usually in the evening, unless your doctor advises otherwise

IF YOU MISS A DOSE

• Apply it as soon as you remember
• If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed one
• Do not use two drops at the same time to make up for a missed dose

STORAGE

• Store as per the instructions on the pack, usually below 25°C
• Keep away from direct sunlight and moisture
• Keep the bottle tightly closed
• Discard the bottle after the period mentioned on the label once opened
• Keep out of reach of children

DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICINE IF YOU

• Are allergic to this medicine or any of its ingredients
• Have an active eye infection
• Are pregnant or breastfeeding, unless advised by your doctor

TELL YOUR DOCTOR BEFORE STARTING IF YOU

• Have inflammation inside the eye (uveitis) or history of it
• Wear contact lenses
• Have had eye surgery recently
• Have asthma or breathing problems
• Are using any other eye drops

MEDICINES THAT CAN INTERACT

• Other prostaglandin-type eye drops
• Eye drops containing preservatives, if used together may cause irritation
• Inform your doctor about all eye and other medicines you are using

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Can I wear contact lenses while using this eye drop?

Remove contact lenses before applying the drop and wait at least 15 minutes before putting them back, as the preservative can be absorbed by lenses.

How long does it take to work?

It may take a few weeks of regular use to see the full effect on eye pressure, so continue using it even if you feel fine.

Will my eye colour change permanently?

• Yes, prolonged use can cause a gradual and permanent darkening of the iris colour, especially in eyes with mixed colours; inform your doctor if you notice this.
