Uses and Benefits of LUPRIDE DEPOT 3.75MG INJECTION (LEUPROLIDE)
Leuprolide is used to treat conditions that are affected by sex hormones like testosterone and estrogen.
WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR
- Advanced prostate cancer in men
- Endometriosis in women
- Uterine fibroids
- Central precocious puberty in children
- Sometimes used in fertility treatment protocols
HOW IT WORKS
- It acts on the pituitary gland to change the release of hormones that control testosterone and estrogen production
- With continued use, it lowers testosterone in men and estrogen in women to very low levels
- This hormone suppression shrinks hormone-dependent tissue such as tumour cells, fibroids, or endometrial growths
- Initially it may cause a brief rise in hormones before levels drop, so early flare symptoms can occur
WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR
- It is not a painkiller and does not treat infections
- It is not used for general hormone replacement therapy
- It is not a contraceptive, though it may affect fertility temporarily
- It is not meant for immediate symptom relief, as it works gradually over weeks

How to Use LUPRIDE DEPOT 3.75MG INJECTION (LEUPROLIDE)
HOW TO TAKE IT
- This medicine is given as an injection under the skin or into a muscle, usually by a doctor or nurse
- It is not meant to be self-administered unless your doctor has specifically trained you to do so
- The frequency of the injection (monthly, three-monthly, or other schedule) depends on the condition being treated and the specific formulation prescribed
- Do not stop the treatment on your own even if you feel better, as hormone suppression needs to be maintained for the full course advised by your doctor
- Attend all follow-up visits so your doctor can monitor hormone levels and response to treatment
IF YOU MISS A DOSE
- Contact your doctor or clinic as soon as possible to reschedule the injection
- Do not try to double up or self-inject an extra dose to make up for a missed one
- Missing a dose can reduce the effectiveness of treatment, so try to keep to the schedule given by your doctor
