- Complicated urinary tract infections
- Bloodstream infections (sepsis)
- Bone and joint infections
- Infections in patients with weak immunity
- Infections in intensive care settings caused by resistant bacteria
HOW IT WORKS
- Amikacin belongs to the aminoglycoside group of antibiotics
- It stops bacteria from making the proteins they need to grow and multiply
- This action kills the bacteria and clears the infection
- It works mainly against gram-negative bacteria and some resistant strains
WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR
