Uses and Benefits of NEPALACT-Z EYE DROP (Nepafenac (1mg))
Nepafenac eye drops are used to treat pain, inflammation and swelling in the eye, most commonly following cataract surgery.
WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR
- Reducing pain after cataract surgery
- Controlling inflammation (redness, swelling) inside the eye after eye surgery
- Preventing swelling of the retina (macular oedema) linked to cataract surgery in some patients
HOW IT WORKS
- It blocks certain chemicals (prostaglandins) in the body that cause pain and inflammation
- By lowering these chemicals in the eye, it helps reduce swelling, redness and discomfort
WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR
- It is not used to treat eye infections caused by bacteria, virus or fungus
- It is not a substitute for antibiotic eye drops if an infection is present
- It should not be used for general eye irritation without a doctor's advice
- It is not meant for long-term routine use without medical supervision

COMMON SIDE EFFECTS
- Mild burning or stinging in the eye after applying
- Watery eyes
- Blurred vision for a short while
- Feeling of something in the eye
LESS COMMON SIDE EFFECTS
- Dry eyes
- Eye redness
- Itching around the eye
- Headache
SERIOUS SIDE EFFECTS — STOP AND SEE A DOCTOR IMMEDIATELY
- Severe eye pain or worsening redness
- Sudden decrease or loss of vision
- Signs of eye infection such as discharge, swelling or crusting
- Corneal problems like non-healing sore spots on the eye surface
- Allergic reaction such as swelling of eyelids, severe itching or rash

How to Use NEPALACT-Z EYE DROP (Nepafenac (1mg))
HOW TO TAKE IT
- Use only in the eye, as prescribed by your doctor
- Wash your hands before using the drops
- Tilt your head back, pull down the lower eyelid gently, and place the drop inside
- Avoid touching the dropper tip to your eye or any surface
- Close your eyes gently for a minute after applying to help absorption
- If you use other eye drops, wait some time between each one as advised by your doctor
- Do not wear contact lenses while using this medicine unless your doctor allows it
IF YOU MISS A DOSE
- Apply it as soon as you remember
- If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed one and continue as usual
- Do not apply two doses together to make up for a missed one
STORAGE
- Store at room temperature, away from direct sunlight and moisture
- Keep the bottle tightly closed when not in use
- Keep out of reach of children
- Discard the bottle after the advised period once opened, even if some medicine remains

DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICINE IF YOU
- Are allergic to nepafenac or other NSAIDs like aspirin or ibuprofen
- Have had an asthma attack or severe allergic reaction after taking aspirin or other NSAIDs

- Have a bleeding disorder or are prone to bleeding
- Have diabetes

MEDICINES THAT CAN INTERACT
- Other NSAID eye drops or oral NSAIDs
- Corticosteroid eye drops, if used together without medical supervision
- Blood-thinning medicines, as these may increase risk of bleeding in the eye
