Nicorandil is mainly used for the long-term prevention and treatment of angina (chest pain due to reduced blood flow to the heart muscle).
WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR
- Prevention of angina attacks
- Long-term treatment of stable angina
- Sometimes used when other angina medicines are not suitable or not fully effective
HOW IT WORKS
- Opens potassium channels in blood vessel walls, causing them to relax and widen
- Also has a nitrate-like effect that dilates veins and arteries
- This reduces the workload on the heart and improves blood and oxygen supply to the heart muscle
WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR
- Not used to treat a sudden heart attack
- Not a painkiller for non-heart-related chest pain
- Not used for high blood pressure alone
- Not a substitute for emergency treatment of severe cardiac events

- Rapid or irregular heartbeat

How to Use NICODUCE 48MG INJECTION (NICORANDIL (48MG))
HOW TO TAKE IT
- Take exactly as prescribed by your doctor, usually twice a day
- Swallow the tablet with water; it can be taken with or without food
- Do not crush or chew unless your doctor or pharmacist advises so
- Take it at the same times each day to maintain steady effect
- Do not stop suddenly without consulting your doctor, as this may worsen angina
IF YOU MISS A DOSE
- Take it as soon as you remember
- If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and continue as usual
- Do not double the dose to make up for a missed one
STORAGE
- Store at room temperature, away from direct heat, sunlight, and moisture
- Keep the tablets in their original packaging until use
- Keep out of reach and sight of children
- Do not use after the expiry date printed on the pack

DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICINE IF YOU
- Are allergic to nicorandil or any ingredient in the tablet
- Have low blood pressure or are in cardiogenic shock
- Have heart failure with low fluid levels (hypovolemia)
- Are taking medicines for erectile dysfunction such as sildenafil or similar drugs
TELL YOUR DOCTOR BEFORE STARTING IF YOU
- Have a history of stomach or intestinal ulcers
- Have liver or kidney problems
- Are pregnant, planning pregnancy, or breastfeeding
- Have a history of low blood pressure or fainting spells
- Are scheduled for any surgery
MEDICINES THAT CAN INTERACT
- Sildenafil, tadalafil, or other PDE5 inhibitors (dangerous fall in blood pressure)
- Other blood pressure-lowering medicines
- Other nitrate medicines
- Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs)
