WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR
- Long-term control of blood glucose in type 1 diabetes
- Long-term control of blood glucose in type 2 diabetes when other treatments are not enough
- Managing diabetes during periods needing both fast and background insulin cover
HOW IT WORKS
- The rapid-acting part (Insulin Aspart) starts working quickly to control the rise in blood sugar after meals
- The intermediate-acting part (Insulin Aspart Protamine) is released slowly to give longer background insulin cover
- Together they help mimic the body's natural insulin release pattern
- Insulin helps body cells absorb glucose from blood and use it for energy
WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR

- Not used to treat type 2 diabetes as a first-line option before diet and other medicines are tried
