This medicine is used to treat moderate to severe bacterial infections, especially those caused by resistant bacteria.

WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR

• Respiratory tract infections such as pneumonia
• Urinary tract infections
• Skin and soft tissue infections
• Abdominal infections
• Bone and joint infections
• Infections of the blood (septicaemia)
• Meningitis in certain cases
• Surgical infection prevention as advised by the doctor

HOW IT WORKS

• Ceftriaxone is a cephalosporin antibiotic that stops bacteria from building their protective cell wall, killing them
• Sulbactam blocks certain bacterial enzymes (beta-lactamases) that would otherwise inactivate ceftriaxone
• Together they widen the range of bacteria that can be treated, including some resistant strains

HOW TO TAKE IT

DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICINE IF YOU

• Are allergic to ceftriaxone, sulbactam, or other cephalosporin or penicillin antibiotics
