Uses and Benefits of OSTEOFRAC CARTRIDGE 3ML (TERIPARATIDE 750MCG)
Teriparatide is used to treat osteoporosis, a condition where bones become weak, brittle and prone to fractures.
WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR
- Treatment of osteoporosis in postmenopausal women at high risk of fracture
- Treatment of osteoporosis in men at increased risk of fracture
- Treatment of bone loss caused by long-term steroid (glucocorticoid) use
HOW IT WORKS
- It is a man-made form of parathyroid hormone
- Unlike the body's natural hormone, when given in small daily doses it stimulates cells that build new bone
- Over time this increases bone density and bone strength, lowering fracture risk
WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR
- It is not a painkiller and does not treat sudden bone or joint pain directly
- It is not used for general calcium or vitamin D deficiency alone
- It is not meant for long-term, indefinite use beyond the doctor-advised treatment period
- It is not used in people with certain bone cancers or high bone turnover conditions
