This medicine is mainly used in the treatment of infertility and certain hormonal conditions related to reproduction.
WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR
- To trigger ovulation (release of egg) in women undergoing fertility treatment
- To treat infertility caused by hormone imbalance in women
- To treat low sperm count or low testosterone in men caused by pituitary gland problems
- To treat undescended testicles in young boys
HOW IT WORKS
- It acts like a natural hormone called luteinizing hormone (LH)
- In women, it helps the ovary release a mature egg at the right time
- In men and boys, it stimulates the testes to produce testosterone and support sperm or testicle development
WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR
- It is not used for general weight loss, even though it is sometimes wrongly promoted for this
- It does not treat obesity on its own
- It is not a substitute for other fertility medicines used earlier in the treatment cycle
- It should not be used without proper hormonal and ultrasound monitoring

HOW TO TAKE IT
- It is given as an injection, usually into a muscle or under the skin

DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICINE IF YOU
- Have a known allergy to HCG or any of its ingredients
- Have a hormone-dependent tumour such as of the breast, ovary, uterus, prostate or testis
- Have undiagnosed vaginal bleeding
- Have a history of ovarian cysts not related to polycystic ovarian syndrome
- Have a blocked blood vessel (thrombosis) currently or recently
TELL YOUR DOCTOR BEFORE STARTING IF YOU
- Have a history of migraine, asthma, epilepsy or heart or kidney disease
- Have polycystic ovarian syndrome
- Are pregnant or breastfeeding
- Have had a previous case of ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome
- Are taking any other fertility medicines

- Other fertility hormones like FSH or GnRH agonists/antagonists used in the same cycle
- Medicines affecting blood clotting
