Uses and Benefits of Semawin 0.25mg Pen (Semaglutide 1mg)
Semaglutide 1mg is used mainly to treat type 2 diabetes mellitus in adults, helping to control blood sugar levels along with diet and exercise.
WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR
- To improve blood sugar control in adults with type 2 diabetes
- Sometimes used to help with weight management in people who are overweight or obese, when prescribed by a doctor
- Used along with diet, exercise and other lifestyle changes
HOW IT WORKS
- It works like a natural hormone called GLP-1 in the body
- It helps the pancreas release insulin when blood sugar is high
- It slows down stomach emptying, which reduces appetite and food intake
- It reduces the amount of sugar released by the liver
WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR
- Not used for type 1 diabetes
- Not used for diabetic ketoacidosis (a diabetes emergency)
- Not a substitute for insulin unless your doctor specifically says so
- Not meant for quick or unsupervised weight loss without medical guidance

- Symptoms of gallbladder problems such as pain in upper right abdomen, fever, yellowing of skin or eyes
- Signs of an allergic reaction such as swelling of face/lips/tongue, difficulty breathing, severe rash
- Sudden changes in vision
- Kidney problems shown by reduced urination or swelling in legs

How to Use Semawin 0.25mg Pen (Semaglutide 1mg)
HOW TO TAKE IT
- Given as an injection under the skin (subcutaneous), usually in the abdomen, thigh, or upper arm
- Taken once a week, on the same day every week, as prescribed by your doctor
- Can be taken with or without food
- Your doctor will decide the starting dose and may increase it gradually
- Change the injection site each week to avoid skin problems
- Do not inject into a vein or muscle
- Follow the instructions given by your doctor or nurse on how to use the injection pen or syringe
IF YOU MISS A DOSE
- If it has been less than a few days since your usual day, take it as soon as you remember
- If it is closer to your next scheduled dose, skip the missed one and continue with your regular schedule
- Do not take two doses close together to make up for a missed one
- If unsure, contact your doctor or pharmacist for guidance
STORAGE
- Store in a refrigerator, away from the freezer compartment
- Once in use, some formulations may be kept at room temperature for a limited time — check the pack instructions
- Keep away from direct light and heat
- Keep out of reach of children

DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICINE IF YOU
- Are allergic to semaglutide or any other ingredient in the injection
- Have a personal or family history of medullary thyroid cancer
- Have Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia syndrome type 2 (a rare inherited condition)
- Are pregnant or planning pregnancy
- Are breastfeeding, unless your doctor advises otherwise
TELL YOUR DOCTOR BEFORE STARTING IF YOU
- Have a history of pancreatitis
- Have kidney or liver disease
- Have diabetic eye disease (retinopathy)
- Have a history of gallbladder disease
- Are on other diabetes medicines, especially insulin or sulfonylureas
- Have severe digestive problems like gastroparesis
- Are planning surgery

- Insulin and other diabetes medicines (risk of low blood sugar)
- Oral medicines, as this drug can slow stomach emptying and affect absorption
- Blood thinners like warfarin, which may need closer monitoring
- Always inform your doctor about all medicines, supplements, and herbal products you take
