WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR
- Type 2 diabetes mellitus, to improve blood sugar control
- Chronic weight management in certain adults, along with diet and exercise, as advised by a doctor
- Reducing risk of major heart-related events in some adults with type 2 diabetes and heart disease, as decided by the doctor
HOW IT WORKS
- It mimics a natural gut hormone called GLP-1
- It helps the pancreas release insulin when blood sugar is high
- It slows down stomach emptying, which reduces appetite
- It reduces the amount of sugar released by the liver
WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR
- Type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis
- It is not a substitute for insulin in insulin-dependent patients unless prescribed together
- It is not meant for quick or short-term weight loss without medical supervision
- It is not used for treating infections or unrelated illnesses

- Sudden vision changes
- Signs of gallbladder problems such as pain in upper right abdomen, fever, or yellowing of skin/eyes
- Reduced urination or signs of kidney problems

How to Use Semawin 0.5mg Pen (Semaglutide 2mg)
HOW TO TAKE IT
- Take exactly as prescribed by your doctor; do not change the dose on your own
- It is given as an injection under the skin (subcutaneously), usually in the abdomen, thigh, or upper arm
- It is usually taken once a week, on the same day each week, with or without food
- Rotate the injection site each time to avoid skin problems
- Follow the specific injection technique shown by your doctor or nurse
IF YOU MISS A DOSE
- If it has been less than a few days since the missed dose, take it as soon as you remember
- If it is close to the next scheduled dose, skip the missed one and continue with the regular schedule
- Do not take two doses close together to make up for a missed one
- Contact your doctor if you are unsure what to do
STORAGE
- Store in a refrigerator, away from direct freezing, as advised on the pack
- Once in use, some products may be kept at room temperature for a limited time; check the manufacturer's instructions
- Keep away from light and out of reach of children

DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICINE IF YOU
- Are allergic to semaglutide or any other ingredient in the injection
- Have a personal or family history of medullary thyroid cancer
- Have Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia syndrome type 2
- Are pregnant, planning pregnancy, or breastfeeding, unless advised otherwise by your doctor
TELL YOUR DOCTOR BEFORE STARTING IF YOU
- Have a history of pancreatitis
- Have kidney or liver disease
- Have diabetic eye disease (retinopathy)
- Are taking other diabetes medicines, especially insulin or sulfonylureas
- Have a history of gallbladder disease
- Are scheduled for any surgery
MEDICINES THAT CAN INTERACT
- Insulin and other diabetes medicines, which may increase risk of low blood sugar
- Oral medicines that depend on stomach emptying, as semaglutide can delay their absorption
- Warfarin and similar blood thinners, requiring closer monitoring
- Any other injectable weight-loss or diabetes medicines
