Uses and Benefits of SYNCA EYE DROP (Brinzolamide 1.0% + Brimonidine 0.2%)
This combination eye drop is mainly used to treat raised pressure inside the eye caused by glaucoma or ocular hypertension.
WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR
- Lowering elevated intraocular pressure (IOP) in open-angle glaucoma
- Managing ocular hypertension when a single medicine is not enough
- Used when doctor decides two IOP-lowering actions are needed together
HOW IT WORKS
- Brinzolamide reduces the production of aqueous fluid inside the eye by blocking an enzyme called carbonic anhydrase
- Brimonidine reduces fluid production and also increases fluid drainage from the eye by acting on alpha receptors
- Together they lower eye pressure more than either medicine alone
- Lower eye pressure helps protect the optic nerve from further damage
WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR
- Not used for red eye due to infection or allergy
- Not used for treating cataract
- Not a treatment for dry eyes
- Not for general eye pain unrelated to raised eye pressure
- Not a substitute for emergency treatment of acute angle-closure glaucoma unless specifically advised
