Uses and Benefits of TAXIM 125MG INJECTION (CEFOTAXIME 125 MG)
Cefotaxime is used to treat infections caused by susceptible bacteria in various parts of the body.
WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR
- Respiratory tract infections such as pneumonia
- Urinary tract infections
- Skin and soft tissue infections
- Bone and joint infections
- Meningitis (infection of the brain lining)
- Infections of the blood (septicaemia)
- Gynaecological infections
- Abdominal infections
- Prevention of infection during certain surgeries
HOW IT WORKS
- It belongs to a group of antibiotics called cephalosporins
- It stops bacteria from building their protective outer wall
- Without this wall, the bacteria cannot survive and the infection is controlled
WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR
- It does not work against viral infections like cold or flu
- It is not used for fungal infections
- It is not a painkiller and does not treat pain directly
- It should not be used for infections that are known to be resistant to it

COMMON SIDE EFFECTS
- Pain, redness or swelling at the injection site

- Severe allergic reaction with swelling of face, lips or throat, and difficulty breathing
- Severe skin reaction with blistering or peeling
- Severe or bloody diarrhoea that does not stop
- Signs of liver problems such as yellowing of skin or eyes
- Unusual bleeding or bruising
- Seizures or confusion

How to Use TAXIM 125MG INJECTION (CEFOTAXIME 125 MG)
HOW TO TAKE IT
- This medicine is given as an injection by a doctor or nurse, into a vein or muscle
- It is not meant to be taken by mouth
- Use exactly as prescribed, at the dose, frequency and duration advised by your doctor
- Complete the full course even if you feel better, unless your doctor advises otherwise
- Do not stop the treatment on your own
IF YOU MISS A DOSE
- Since this is usually given in a hospital or clinic setting, missed doses are uncommon
- If you miss a scheduled dose, contact your healthcare provider as soon as possible to reschedule
- Do not try to self-administer a double dose to make up for a missed one
STORAGE
- Store as directed by the pharmacist or hospital pharmacy, usually below 25°C in a cool, dry place
- Keep away from direct sunlight and moisture
- Keep out of reach of children
- Prepared/reconstituted solutions should be used within the time advised by the healthcare provider and not stored for later use

DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICINE IF YOU
- Are allergic to cefotaxime or other cephalosporin antibiotics
- Have had a severe allergic reaction to penicillin antibiotics in the past

- Have liver disease
- Have a history of gastrointestinal disease, especially colitis
