Uses and Benefits of VELTAM 0.4MG TABLET (TAMSULOSIN 0.4MG)

Tamsulosin 0.4mg is mainly used to treat urinary symptoms caused by an enlarged prostate gland, a condition known as benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), which is common in older men.

WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR

• Difficulty in starting urination
• Weak or interrupted urine flow
• Frequent urge to urinate, especially at night
• Feeling of incomplete bladder emptying due to BPH
• Sometimes used to help pass kidney stones located in the lower ureter

HOW IT WORKS

• Blocks alpha-1 receptors present in the prostate and bladder neck
• Relaxes the smooth muscles in these areas
• Reduces resistance to urine flow, making urination easier
• Does not shrink the prostate but improves symptoms

WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR

• It is not a cure for prostate cancer
• It does not treat urinary tract infections
• It is not meant for women or children
• It is not a treatment for high blood pressure, even though it affects blood vessels

• Painful erection lasting more than 4 hours (priapism)
• Severe skin rash or peeling of skin

How to Use VELTAM 0.4MG TABLET (TAMSULOSIN 0.4MG)

HOW TO TAKE IT

• Take exactly as prescribed by your doctor, usually once daily
• Take at the same time each day, generally about 30 minutes after the same meal
• Swallow the capsule or tablet whole with water; do not crush or chew it
• Do not stop the medicine suddenly without consulting your doctor, even if symptoms improve

IF YOU MISS A DOSE

• Skip the missed dose and take the next dose at the usual time
• Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one
• If you miss several doses, inform your doctor before restarting

STORAGE

• Store at room temperature, away from direct sunlight and moisture
• Keep in the original pack until ready to use
• Keep out of reach of children

DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICINE IF YOU

• Strong CYP3A4 inhibitors like ketoconazole or ritonavir
• Warfarin or other blood-thinning medicines
