Ondansetron is mainly used to control nausea and vomiting.
WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR
- Preventing and treating nausea and vomiting caused by cancer chemotherapy
- Preventing and treating nausea and vomiting caused by radiotherapy
- Preventing and treating nausea and vomiting after surgery
- Sometimes used for severe vomiting in other conditions, as advised by a doctor
HOW IT WORKS
- Blocks a natural substance called serotonin in the gut and brain that can trigger vomiting
- Reduces signals sent to the brain's vomiting centre
- Helps calm an upset stomach caused by strong triggers like chemotherapy drugs
WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR
- Not used for regular motion sickness
- Not used as a general painkiller or digestive aid
- Not a treatment for the underlying cause of vomiting, such as infection or blockage
- Not meant for routine, everyday nausea without a specific medical cause
This medicine should be used only as advised by a doctor, especially since the underlying cause of vomiting needs to be identified and treated separately.

SERIOUS SIDE EFFECTS — STOP AND SEE A DOCTOR IMMEDIATELY
- Irregular or fast heartbeat, chest pain, or fainting
- Severe allergic reaction: swelling of face/lips/tongue, difficulty breathing, skin rash
- Sudden severe headache with vision changes
- Signs of serotonin syndrome: agitation, high fever, muscle stiffness, rapid heartbeat, confusion
- Severe constipation with stomach swelling or no bowel movement

How to Use VORASAT INJECTION (ONDANSETRON)
HOW TO TAKE IT
- Take exactly as prescribed by your doctor, usually before chemotherapy, radiotherapy, or surgery
- Can be taken with or without food
- If using the orally disintegrating tablet, let it dissolve on the tongue without chewing or swallowing whole
- Do not increase or decrease the dose on your own
- Complete the full course as advised, even if you feel better
IF YOU MISS A DOSE
- Since this medicine is often taken around specific events like chemotherapy or surgery, follow your doctor's or nurse's instructions on timing
- If you miss a dose meant for regular use, take it as soon as you remember unless it is almost time for the next dose
- Do not double the dose to make up for a missed one
- Contact your doctor if you are unsure about a missed dose

- Store at room temperature, away from direct sunlight and moisture
- Keep out of reach of children
- Do not use after the expiry date printed on the pack
- Follow any special storage instructions given by your pharmacist for liquid forms

DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICINE IF YOU
- Are allergic to ondansetron or similar medicines
- Are also taking apomorphine (a medicine for Parkinson's disease), as this combination can cause serious low blood pressure
TELL YOUR DOCTOR BEFORE STARTING IF YOU
- Have heart problems, including irregular heartbeat or long QT syndrome
- Have liver disease
- Have low levels of potassium or magnesium in your blood
- Are pregnant, planning pregnancy, or breastfeeding
- Have a bowel blockage or severe constipation
MEDICINES THAT CAN INTERACT
- Medicines that affect heart rhythm, such as certain antibiotics and antidepressants
- Tramadol, as it may reduce pain relief and increase seizure risk
- Selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) and other serotonin-affecting medicines, due to risk of serotonin syndrome
- Apomorphine
- Other medicines for nausea or vomiting, unless advised by a doctor
