Filgrastim 300mcg is used to treat and prevent a low white blood cell count (neutropenia), which increases the risk of serious infections.

WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR

• Reducing the risk of infection in patients receiving chemotherapy for cancer
• Helping white blood cell recovery after bone marrow transplant
• Treating severe chronic neutropenia (congenital, cyclic, or idiopathic)
• Mobilising stem cells from bone marrow into the blood before collection for transplant
• Managing neutropenia related to HIV or certain other conditions, as advised by a specialist

HOW IT WORKS

• It copies the action of a natural body protein called G-CSF
• It stimulates the bone marrow to produce more neutrophils (a type of white blood cell)
• Higher neutrophil counts help the body fight infections more effectively
• It also helps release stem cells from the bone marrow into the bloodstream

WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR

• It is not a treatment for cancer itself
• It does not treat infections directly and is not an antibiotic
• It is not used for routine or minor low blood counts without medical need
• It should not be used for anaemia or low platelet count

COMMON SIDE EFFECTS

• Bone pain or muscle pain

• Sudden shortness of breath, chest pain, or cough (possible lung reaction)
• Severe pain in the upper left abdomen or shoulder tip (possible spleen problem)
• Signs of allergic reaction: swelling of face/lips/throat, difficulty breathing, severe rash
• Blood in urine or unusual bruising
• Severe or worsening bone pain not relieved by usual painkillers
• Sickle cell crisis symptoms in patients with sickle cell disease

How to Use XPHIL NU INJECTION (FILGRASTIM 300MCG.)

HOW TO TAKE IT

• Given as an injection, usually under the skin (subcutaneous) or sometimes into a vein, as decided by your doctor

• Follow the exact dose, schedule, and duration prescribed; do not change it on your own

STORAGE

DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICINE IF YOU
