Uses and Benefits of XTROZ 1GM INJECTION (GEMCITABINE HYDROCHLORIDE 1GM)
Gemcitabine Hydrochloride is used in the treatment of certain cancers as part of chemotherapy.
WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR
- Non-small cell lung cancer
- Pancreatic cancer
- Breast cancer (in combination with other drugs)
- Ovarian cancer (in combination with other drugs)
- Bladder cancer
HOW IT WORKS
- It belongs to a class of medicines called antimetabolites
- It gets incorporated into the DNA of rapidly dividing cancer cells
- This stops the cancer cells from making new DNA and multiplying
- Over time, this leads to death of the cancer cells
WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR
- It is not a painkiller and does not treat cancer-related pain directly
- It is not used for infections
- It is not a cure-all for every type of cancer; its use depends on cancer type and stage
- It should not be used for non-cancer conditions

COMMON SIDE EFFECTS
- Nausea and vomiting
- Low blood counts (anemia, low white cells, low platelets)
- Fever
- Hair thinning
- Loss of appetite
- Weakness and tiredness

- Mouth sores
- Diarrhea or constipation
- Swelling of hands, feet or face

- Signs of severe infection such as high fever or chills
- Unusual bleeding or bruising
- Severe breathlessness or chest pain
- Yellowing of skin or eyes
- Severe swelling of face, lips, throat or difficulty breathing (allergic reaction)
- Decreased urination or blood in urine
- Severe or persistent diarrhea/vomiting leading to dehydration

How to Use XTROZ 1GM INJECTION (GEMCITABINE HYDROCHLORIDE 1GM)
HOW TO TAKE IT
- This medicine is given only as an intravenous (IV) infusion by a doctor or nurse
- It is not available as a tablet or capsule for home use
- The dose, frequency, and duration are decided by your oncologist based on your cancer type, body size, and blood test results
- Regular blood tests are done before each dose to check if it is safe to continue
- You will usually receive it in a hospital or day-care chemotherapy unit
IF YOU MISS A DOSE
- Since this is administered by healthcare staff on a fixed schedule, contact your treatment center immediately if you are unable to attend an appointment
- Do not try to self-administer or delay treatment without informing your doctor
STORAGE
- This medicine is stored and handled by hospital pharmacy staff under controlled conditions
- Patients and caregivers do not need to store this medicine at home
