This medicine is prescribed to treat bacterial infections affecting different parts of the body, especially skin, soft tissue, respiratory tract, ENT and other infections where resistant staphylococcus bacteria may be involved.

WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR

• Skin and soft tissue infections
• Respiratory tract infections such as bronchitis
• Ear, nose and throat infections
• Urinary tract infections
• Wound infections and abscesses
• Bone and joint infections in some cases

HOW IT WORKS

• Amoxycillin kills bacteria by stopping them from building their protective cell wall
• Cloxacillin resists breakdown by bacterial enzymes that would otherwise destroy amoxycillin
• Together they cover a wider range of bacteria, including some resistant strains

WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR

• Viral infections like common cold, flu or COVID-19
• Fungal infections
• Fever without a diagnosed bacterial cause
• Prevention of infection unless specifically advised by a doctor before a procedure

How to Use Amoxycillin 125mg + Cloxacillin 125mg

HOW TO TAKE IT

• Take exactly as prescribed by your doctor, usually before meals
• Swallow tablets/capsules with a glass of water
• Complete the full course even if you feel better, unless your doctor tells you to stop
• Take doses at evenly spaced intervals through the day as advised
• Do not increase or decrease the dose on your own

IF YOU MISS A DOSE

• Take it as soon as you remember
• If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed one and continue your normal schedule
• Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one

STORAGE

• Store at room temperature, away from direct sunlight and moisture
• Keep out of reach of children
• If a liquid suspension is prescribed, store as directed on the label, usually in a refrigerator, and discard after the recommended number of days once opened
• Do not use after the expiry date printed on the pack

• Oral thrush

SERIOUS SIDE EFFECTS — STOP AND SEE A DOCTOR IMMEDIATELY

• Severe allergic reaction with swelling of face, lips, throat or difficulty breathing
• Severe skin rash, blistering or peeling skin
• Yellowing of eyes or skin, dark urine (signs of liver problems)
• Severe or bloody diarrhoea, especially if it continues after stopping the medicine
• Unusual bruising or bleeding
• Fainting, severe dizziness or breathlessness

DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICINE IF YOU

• Oral contraceptive pills (may reduce effectiveness)
