WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR

• Respiratory tract infections such as sinusitis, bronchitis and pneumonia
• Ear, nose and throat infections
• Urinary tract infections
• Skin and soft tissue infections
• Dental and bone infections
• Infections after surgery, as advised by the doctor

HOW IT WORKS

• Amoxycillin is a penicillin-type antibiotic that kills bacteria by stopping them from building their cell wall
• Some bacteria produce an enzyme called beta-lactamase that destroys amoxycillin
• Clavulanic acid blocks this enzyme, allowing amoxycillin to work effectively even against these resistant bacteria

WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR

• Viral infections such as common cold, flu or most sore throats
• Fungal infections
• As a general painkiller or fever medicine
• Preventing infections without medical advice

How to Use Amoxycillin (875mg) + Clavulanic Acid (125mg)

HOW TO TAKE IT

• Take exactly as prescribed by your doctor, at the same times each day
• Swallow the tablet with a glass of water; do not crush or chew unless advised
• It is best taken at the start of a meal to reduce stomach upset
• Complete the full course even if symptoms improve, unless your doctor tells you to stop
• Do not take extra doses to make up for a missed one

IF YOU MISS A DOSE

• Take it as soon as you remember
• If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and continue your normal schedule
• Do not double the dose

STORAGE

• Store at room temperature, away from direct heat, light and moisture
• Keep out of reach of children
• If a liquid suspension is prescribed, keep it in the refrigerator (not frozen) and discard after the advised number of days
• Do not use after the expiry date printed on the pack

COMMON SIDE EFFECTS

• Swelling of face, lips, tongue or throat
• Difficulty breathing or wheezing
• Severe or persistent diarrhoea (may indicate a serious bowel infection)
• Yellowing of skin or eyes, dark urine (signs of liver problems)
• Unusual bleeding or bruising
