Brivaracetam 25mg — Uses and Benefits
Brivaracetam is used to treat epilepsy, a condition in which abnormal electrical activity in the brain causes seizures.
WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR
- To control partial-onset (focal) seizures in adults and adolescents
- Often given as an add-on therapy along with other anti-epileptic medicines
- Helps reduce the frequency and severity of seizures over time
HOW IT WORKS
- It binds to a specific protein in the brain (SV2A) involved in nerve signalling
- This action helps to stabilise abnormal electrical activity in brain cells
- Reducing this abnormal activity lowers the chance of a seizure occurring
WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR
- It is not a painkiller or fever medicine
- It is not used for anxiety or sleep problems
- It is not a cure for epilepsy; it only helps control seizures
- It should not be used to stop a seizure that is already happening (not for emergency use)
Always take this medicine exactly as prescribed by your doctor and do not change the dose on your own.

- Try to take it at the same times each day to maintain steady levels in the body
- Do not stop taking it suddenly, as this may increase the risk of seizures
IF YOU MISS A DOSE
- Take the missed dose as soon as you remember
- If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed one and continue as usual
- Do not take two doses together to make up for a missed one
- If you miss doses often, inform your doctor, as this can affect seizure control
