Brivaracetam 75mg — Uses and Benefits
Brivaracetam is used mainly to control epileptic seizures in adults and children as advised by a neurologist.
WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR
- Treatment of partial-onset (focal) seizures, used along with other anti-epileptic medicines
- Long-term control of epilepsy as part of a treatment plan
HOW IT WORKS
- It binds to a protein in the brain called SV2A, which helps reduce abnormal electrical signals
- This helps lower the frequency and severity of seizures
WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR
- It is not a painkiller or fever medicine
- It is not used for occasional headaches or muscle cramps
- It is not a rescue medicine to stop a seizure that is already happening
- It should not be used for anxiety or sleep problems without specific medical advice
How to Use Brivaracetam 75mg
HOW TO TAKE IT
- Take exactly as prescribed by your doctor, usually once or twice a day
- Can be taken with or without food
- Swallow the tablet with water; do not crush or chew unless advised
- Do not stop the medicine suddenly, as this may increase the risk of seizures
- Take it at the same time each day to maintain a steady level in the body
IF YOU MISS A DOSE
- Take the missed dose as soon as you remember
- If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and continue your normal schedule
