Carvedilol 20mg is mainly prescribed for high blood pressure and heart failure, and sometimes after a heart attack to protect the heart.

WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR

• Treating high blood pressure (hypertension)
• Managing chronic heart failure along with other medicines
• Improving survival after a heart attack in some patients
• Reducing chest pain (angina) in certain cases

HOW IT WORKS

• It blocks beta and alpha receptors in the heart and blood vessels
• This slows the heart rate and reduces the force of heart contraction
• It relaxes blood vessels, lowering blood pressure
• Together these effects reduce the workload on the heart

WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR

• Not used for sudden severe asthma attacks
• Not a quick relief medicine for chest pain during an attack
• Not used to treat infections or fever
• Not recommended for uncontrolled, decompensated heart failure needing IV treatment

How to Use Carvedilol 20mg

HOW TO TAKE IT

• Take exactly as prescribed by your doctor
• Take with food to reduce dizziness and stomach upset
• Swallow the tablet with water; do not crush unless advised
• Do not stop taking suddenly, even if you feel well, as this can worsen heart problems
• Take at the same time every day for best effect

IF YOU MISS A DOSE

• Take it as soon as you remember
• If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed one
• Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one
• Contact your doctor if you miss doses frequently

• Store at room temperature, away from direct sunlight and moisture
• Keep out of reach of children
