HOW IT WORKS

• Cefadroxil is a cephalosporin antibiotic
• It stops bacteria from building their protective outer wall
• Without a proper wall, the bacteria cannot survive and the infection clears

WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR

• Viral infections such as common cold, flu, or most sore throats
• Fungal infections
• Preventing infections without a doctor's specific advice
• Self-treatment of unexplained fever without medical evaluation

How to Use Cefadroxil

HOW TO TAKE IT

• Take exactly as prescribed by your doctor, in the dose and frequency advised
• Can be taken with or without food, but taking it with food may reduce stomach upset
• Swallow tablets or capsules with a glass of water; shake the suspension well before use
• Complete the full course even if you feel better before finishing it
• Try to take doses at evenly spaced times each day

IF YOU MISS A DOSE

• Take the missed dose as soon as you remember
• If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed one and continue your normal schedule
• Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one

STORAGE

• Store at room temperature, away from direct heat and sunlight
• Keep the liquid suspension in the refrigerator only if advised on the label, and discard any unused portion after the period mentioned on the bottle
• Keep out of reach of children
• Do not use after the expiry date printed on the pack

COMMON SIDE EFFECTS

• Nausea
• Diarrhea

• Vomiting
• Skin rash
• Itching
• Vaginal itching or discharge

SERIOUS SIDE EFFECTS — STOP AND SEE A DOCTOR IMMEDIATELY

• Severe allergic reaction with swelling of face, lips, tongue, or throat
• Difficulty breathing
• Severe skin rash, blistering, or peeling
• Severe watery or bloody diarrhea, which may occur even weeks after stopping the medicine
• Yellowing of the skin or eyes
• Unusual bleeding or bruising

This medicine is available only with a doctor's prescription in India.

DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICINE IF YOU

• Are allergic to cefadroxil or other cephalosporin antibiotics
• Have had a severe allergic reaction to penicillin antibiotics in the past (cross-reaction is possible)

TELL YOUR DOCTOR BEFORE STARTING IF YOU

• Have kidney disease
• Have a history of stomach or intestinal problems, especially colitis
• Are pregnant or planning pregnancy
• Are breastfeeding
• Have any known drug allergies

MEDICINES THAT CAN INTERACT

• Probenecid, which can increase levels of cefadroxil in the blood
• Blood thinners such as warfarin, as cephalosporins may affect their action
• Other antibiotics, if being taken together for another condition
• Oral contraceptives, as antibiotics may reduce their effectiveness (use additional protection if advised)
